Types of easel

  • Double-sided standing easels: the most common style, with a chalkboard on one side and a magnetic dry-wipe whiteboard on the other. About 50 are height-adjustable so they grow with your child.
  • Easels with a paper roll: about 20 have a paper roll holder for painting and drawing on the same easel.
  • Rotating easels that spin 360° for two children to use at once.
  • Tabletop easels and paper roll dispensers for small spaces.
  • Light-up boards: LCD and neon glow drawing easels.

Frequently asked questions

What height should a child's easel be?

The board should sit around your child's eye level when they stand. Adjustable easels let you raise the board as they grow, and each listing gives the height range in centimetres or inches.

Do easels need assembling?

Most standing easels arrive flat and need some simple assembly. Tabletop easels usually come ready to use.

Which surfaces can be used with paint?

The paper roll is the best surface for paint. Chalkboard sides are for chalk, and whiteboard sides are for dry-wipe pens, which should be wiped off soon after use.
